EUGENE, Ore. -- For the first third of Oregons season, coach Dana Altman has waited for a sense of urgency for an entire game. Then his Ducks found it just in time, with a little luck on their side.Tyler Dorsey scored 19 points and Dylan Ennis hit the tiebreaking 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to help No. 24 Oregon beat Alabama 63-56 on Sunday night. Were stuck in the mud a little bit and there are a lot of things we have to work on, Altman said. We found a way to win. I dont sense that urgency that the coaching staff has amongst the team, so weve got to do a better job.Dillon Brooks and Chris Boucher added 10 points each for the Ducks (8-2). They won their sixth consecutive game and 31st in a row at home.Ennis shot started a 9-0 run for the Ducks to finish the game after Donta Halls fifth dunk tied it for Alabama at 56-all with 3:16 left to play. Hall led the Crimson Tide (4-4) with 14 points.Brooks found Ennis open on the right wing after getting caught in the air on a baseline drive. Ennis and Brooks each had six of Oregons 18 assists. That 3 was lucky, Altman said. It was penetration-kick and Dylan hit a really tough shot there. The Ducks had assists on all 10 of their first-half field goals and led 31-23 despite not scoring for the last 5 minutes before the break.Alabama came back after being down 11 early in the second half with its strong inside game. The Crimson Tide outscored the Ducks 42-24 in the paint and finished with a 21-6 edge in second-chance points. They got pretty much anything they wanted that second half, Altman said. Those offensive-rebound putbacks really got them back in the game and allowed them to stay right there.Oregon scored 21 points off Alabamas season-high 18 turnovers. The Crimson Tide had a 33-27 edge in rebounds, with Hall and Riley Norris each grabbing seven.Alabama had eight of its 11 offensive rebounds in the second half, though it was Oregon that grabbed the key defensive boards in the final 2 minutesWe made simple plays at the end and closed the show, Dorsey said, but we should have boxed out more.BIG PICTUREAlabamas longest trip in three years nearly resulted in its first road win over a ranked team since 2004. The Crimson Tide, who finished 10th in the Southeastern Conference in coach Avery Johnsons first season, have four games to gear up for the start of SEC play on Jan. 7 against Vanderbilt.Oregon, which has slipped 20 spots since its poll high of No. 4, will try to keep its focus on its final three nonconference games with a Pac-12 opener against No. 2 UCLA looming on Dec. 28 in Eugene.POLL IMPLICATIONSA sixth-straight victory should stop No. 24 Oregons slide in the rankings after the Ducks dropped another spot last week. The Ducks have three more games against unranked teams before Pac-12 play begins.NEW KID IN THE HOUSE: Oregon introduced its new football coach, Willie Taggart, during the first media timeout to the crowd of 8,922, which responded with a standing ovation. Taggart, who was hired last week to replace Mark Helfrich, then roamed the arena posing for selfies with fans during the first half.ROUNDING INTO SHAPEBrooks, Oregons preseason All-American, played a season-high 31 minutes in his seventh game off the bench since recovering from offseason foot surgery. He was particularly active on defense with four steals.STAT OF THE NIGHTAlabama was just 2 of 19 (10.5 percent) from 3-point range after coming in shooting 36.4 percent and hitting 8.6 per game. Were a much better 3-point-shooting team than that and were a much better decision-making team than that, said second-year coach Avery Johnson, who has seven newcomers among his 11-man rotation.UP NEXTAlabama plays its first home game of the month when it hosts South Carolina Upstate on Thursday night.Oregon goes for its 100th victory in 6-year-old Matthew Knight Arena when it hosts Montana on Tuesday night to cap a five-game homestand. The Ducks then play UNLV at Moda Center in Portland on Saturday. Marcell Ozuna Jersey . Coach Mike Munchak says Fokou stretched ligaments in his left knee Oct. 13 against Seattle, which could keep out up to five weeks even though the linebacker didnt need surgery. Dexter Fowler Jersey . LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. http://www.cardinalsrookiestore.com/ . LOUIS -- The New Orleans Saints looked like a team playing out the string. Enos Slaughter Jersey . The players spoke Jan. 13 during a Major League Baseball Players Association conference call after Rodriguez sued the union and Major League Baseball to overturn an arbitrators decision suspending him for the 2014 season and post-season. Ozzie Smith Jersey . -- Anaheim Ducks captain and leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf has been scratched from Sunday nights game against the Vancouver Canucks because of an upper-body injury. NEWPORT, R.I. -- Everybody in the American Athletic Conference is prepared for the storm. Publicly, nobody is panicking. The AAC held its annual gathering in New England to eat lobster, kick off its fourth football season and start talking about what happens if the conference loses members to Big 12 expansion.I cannot stand here this morning and ignore the recent Big 12 news regarding realignment, Commissioner Mike Aresco said during his state of the conference address Tuesday. Although I do want to address it at the outset, Im not going to dwell on it.Coming off a successful 2015 on the field that included 10 victories against Power Five teams and four teams ranked in the Top 25 at some point, the conference is again facing uncertainty. While Aresco likes to tout the American as the equal of a Power Five league -- he uses the term Power Six -- the fact is there is still a wide gap in revenue and prestige between the AAC and high-resource conferences. The Big 12 offers a chance for two or maybe even four schools access to the pot of gold that comes with Power Five inclusion. And most of the 12 schools in the American have expressed interest either publicly or privately in joining. There are no secrets here.I think its pretty evident whos been maneuvering, but we respect each other enough to not put each other on the spot, said East Carolina athletic director Jeff Compher, who is the chairman of the American ADs group.Memphis athletic director Tom Bowen said: Were committed to the present right now. I think that keeps us balanced.Aresco met with AAC athletic directors in Rhode Island over the last three days. He said the meetings were productive and all schools participated. While the public nature of the Big 12s exploration of expansion is not ideal, Aresco said, he is pleased with the transparency of his members.I think weve set a tone that we are going to approach this in a workman like fashion, Aresco said in an interview with the AP. Were not going to be morose. Were not going to be actinng like woe is me.dddddddddddd Just the opposite of that. This just means there is work to be done.Aresco said contingency plans to deal with possible departures have been discussed. He would not give details, but said the league has considered that it could lose as many as four members, dropping membership to eight. All things considered I think wed like to be back at 12 if we lose some schools because it gives you more (television) inventory, Aresco said. The American is halfway through a six-year television deal with ESPN.There is only a handful of schools that I think would be attractive to us. What we dont want to do is risk the progress weve made, put it in jeopardy. We dont want to do anything to dilute our brand in any way. Could we stay at 10? If it makes more sense, absolutely. Especially in the short-term. We can play a championship game at 10.Aresco said he has not had an extensive conversation with Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby about the Big 12s plans, but they did talk. Aresco said he is comfortable that he will be kept in the loop as the Big 12s plans come into focus. Aresco said Bowlsby did not lay out a timetable other than to say the Big 12 hoped to work quickly.Aresco took over as commissioner in 2012 when the American was still the Big East. The conference was falling apart during that round of realignment. Ultimately, defections forced the conference into a near-complete makeover and what emerged was the American Athletic Conference. Aresco said having gone through the Big Easts downfall will help the American get through this. This is not going to be fun. Its not going to be easy, Aresco said. We know we had to rebuild three years ago. I think it was a dire situation then. Its probably less so now but that doesnt mean that there wont be specific challenges. Were trying to be prepared.---Follow Ralph D.
